A SYMPHONY OF COLOR AND MUSIC

Katharina Dustmann creates works of art that result in a very sensual and intuitive form of expression and move between different media such as painting, crafts, design, music and multimedia installations. Her special ability to interweave visual and auditory elements gives her works this unique dimension of creativity.

Since 1996, Katharina Dustmann has devoted herself to spatially dynamic light and sound art. Here, interiors, natural spaces and architecture are transformed into a fascinating interplay of music, film and sound compositions. Her projects have been implemented for well-known theater institutions and events such as the Cologne Philharmonic, Pinakothek der Moderne, Euroga 2000 , Gasometer Oberhausen, Illumina with Forum InterArt, UNESCO, Zeche Zollverein (Essen). For a surround production over 800 m, she received the EVA 2004 - PUBLIC EVENTS - SILVER, together with Forum Interart and Marco Ambrosini.

In 2018, Katharina Dustmann entered a new creative terrain: KLANGBIDER/SOUND OF COLORS. This involves paintings and various color compositions, accompanied by music composed specifically for the image, which is recorded in the recording studio and together forms a total work of art.
This transformative art form opened up new ways of viewing images and challenged the art scene in China, New York, Miami, Venice, Bologna, Zurich, Palma, Lisbon. There was a Interview by NY Art Magazine (Presenting to you Katharina Dustmann and her project “Sound of Colors”), she won 2x the award of the 2023 International Juried Art Competition TERAVARNA and received a recommendation from the Pinakothek der Moderne.

In her latest series of picture compositions "Where the light lives in the water", "Color, color, color" and "Color in absence", Katharina Dustmann shows the subtle relationships between color, light and shadow on brushed aluminum and presents herself as a true pioneer in the field of abstract art. Her pictorially designed color compositions are printed and painted, with various materials such as ink, metal and color pigments, on carrier elements she has developed herself. They evoke a very unique space and revolutionize ideas about the power of color, shapes and pictorial representations.

Since 2024, these unique image compositions have also found their place in furniture design: tables and cabinets become art objects that dissolve the boundaries between functional design and fine art.

This underlines once again how Katharina Dustmann's works transcend traditional boundaries and set new standards in both art and design.
